Wonder is a precious thing. It can't be bought, sold or taught, but grows deep inside us from our earliest moments and if encouraged, can blossom into a life long passion for peering into the unknown. Cultivating wonder for the natural world and learning to identify the design, patterns, processes and relationships found only the natural realm can foster physical, mental, emotional as well as spiritual health. It connects people with the world around them and topics of study are literally endless. Wonder about nature encourages us to ask important questions and gain amazing skills as we seek answers. From animals to rocks, stars to microscopic sea creatures, clouds to carnivorous plants, this world was designed to simultaneously bedazzle us with its complexity and delight us with its soothing simplicity.
I invite all trackers to share their experiences and knowledge, as well as help other trackers learn. I am not a scientist, biologist or trained naturalist. I am a deeply curious person with a life-long love for learning about the natural world. As a teacher, I spent my career working to inspire my young students to reap the benefits of spending time in nature and peering into the extraordinary design embedded in it. I hope you will learn to see nature through the lens of wonder and enjoy tracking examples in your own backyard. Wonder is innate. Design is everywhere! Get out there and find it.
